let's start ...
So today we will talk about BRIHADESWARA TEMPLEThe Brihadeswara Temple, also known as the Peruvudaiyar Kovil, is a magnificent Hindu temple located in Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu, India. Built during the 11th century by the Chola dynasty, it is a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of the largest temples in India.
The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and showcases exquisite Dravidian architecture. Its main attraction is the towering Vimana, a 63-meter-high pyramid-shaped tower, made entirely of granite. The temple also features a massive Nandi statue, weighing about 20 tons, at the entrance.
The intricate carvings on the temple walls depict scenes from Hindu mythology, showcasing the artistic and cultural brilliance of the Chola dynasty. The temple complex includes various smaller shrines, pillared halls, and a beautiful courtyard.
The Brihadeswara Temple is renowned for its structural grandeur and engineering marvels. Its construction, without the use of any binding materials, showcases the advanced engineering knowledge of the Cholas. The temple also has an astronomical significance, with its shadow never falling on the ground during noon.
Even after centuries, the Brihadeswara Temple remains an architectural masterpiece, a spiritual haven, and a testament to the glorious heritage of ancient India.
Thank you.....😍
