Valletta is a fortified city located on the northeastern coast of Malta. It was founded in 1566 by the Knights Hospitaller and designed by the renowned Italian architect, Francesco Laparelli. The city is named after Jean Parisot de la Valette, the Grand Master of the Knights of St. John.
